Good on you for continuing your education. Whatever way you choose to do so you will be setting a wonderful example for your baby and working towards a better life for both of you and I applaud you for that. My Mother was the oldest of 5 siblings during the depression. So She knew how to stretch a dollar. She never let on that there was a problem. I did wonder at the time why She took over the banking from then on, now I know why. Anyway more veggies were added to our meals along with rice and pasta. I adored veggies, so did my mom. My step-dad was a meat and potatoes guy, and wasn’t too happy, too bad. A lady we knew had a great truck garden. We bartered for the veggies. She loved fish, so I would share my catch with her every week. Mostly bass and blue gill, occasionly I would get a trout. I would clean them, add lemon wedges and fresh dill out of our garden. Wrap them in tin foil and take them over to her. She in turn would send fresh veggies home with me.
