I think you hit the nail on the head with the idea that so many jobs 20 years from now don’t even exist yet. The best skill someone can have in 2019, in my opinion is adaptability, and I think that will be even more true in 2040.We shouldn’t be too reliant on what we already know and should always be open to the changes in technology and culture. Who knows, maybe computers as we know them will be largely irrelevant by then, and this current generation of programmers might only know how to speak a “dead language” as new forms of electronic language arise.We don’t though. I mean, that’s a part of the problem especially in NYC but in most of America’s strained housing markets the real problem is under-supply. Lots of cities have slapped a band-aid on the issue in the form of rent control, which in my opinion only helps long-time residents at the expense of new residents or people whose situation requires them to change housing, while disincetivizing landlords from proper upkeep on their units.
